Soft Spot
Quilts and lower, home-style lighting create a warm, homey
feeling in this area the children aptly named, "The
Soft Spot."

Above,
puppets
are stored in the canvas storage totes. Note the
convex silver reflectors below, children enjoy looking into
them and tracking their pattern with their
fingers.

A
Japanese umbrella hangs over the couch. A mobile
made of "recycled" CDs hangs
behind the couch. The couch is for relaxing and listening to stories or
for puppet play. The coffee table is a popular
spot for game play, such as memory or "go fish"
A glider, just out of view in the back
right, is a perfect spot to sit on an
adult's lap for a story. Though staff worried a white love seat would dirty
too fast; it was a deal that couldn't be passed.
Now, a denim blue slipcover has made it more child
friendly.
Turner site is below. The five hanging packets
each hold two copies of selected paperback books.
Audio tapes for the books are provided in each
packet. With a tape recorder and headphones, two
friends can cozy up on pillows and listen to the
same book-on-tape.
