Educational Background:

  • 1983 B.S. in K-12 Physical Education from Eastern Illinois University

Experience:

  • I began working with young children from 1979-1983 during the summers of my college years. After graduation I have had positions at other centers as teacher, assistant director and as a director. In 1988 I had the opportunity to return to teaching at the Illinois State University Child Care.

Why I Work With Young Children:

  • I choose to share my days with children because I find the way they think interesting. Their take on life is fresh and truthful.

  • The curiosity young children have inspires me to investigate with them. Most adults have lost the ability to truly question why, but children do it naturally. They continue to make me grow even after I felt I have delved into an area in great depth and detail.

Significant Achievements:

  • Presented on the Project Approach at the national conference of the National Association for the Education of Young Children in 1999 and 2001.

  • Co-wrote article on children's play for Child Care Information Exchange

  • Held local positions in McLean Country Association for the Education Young Children as treasurer and co-chair for Week of the Young Child.

  • Presented at local and state conferences on numerous child related topics.
